Post to Strip – March 20th
This is totally Mimie’s brainchild. From a simple narration I had about a kid playing with me as Batman, she interpreted it as it is. Although it’s not the typical “Over The Counter” back and forth, it’s more of a slice of life moment. Yes, this comic strip will have those moments, if they’re not your thing, fret not, lots of funnies still underway.
We get a lot of kids in the store. Most of the time they’re good kids, they hang out with their parents and maybe at the end of the day they get a snack or candy or whatnot. We also get the hellhounds, those who make everyone’s life a living hell for apparently no reason. You can’t do anything though, parents love their kids and you point out something they don’t agree with, you become the bad guy. Or are you?
There was a kid at the supermarket that one time dressed with a blanket and a mask. From the get go he’s totally Batman. He was bothering other customers and other kids trying to find someone to play. Perpetually bored as I am, I decided to be his bad guy. It was fun. Being a bad guy is fun. It makes kids happy, it lets the parents do what they need to do and I get to relieve my boredom.
Being a bad guy at work though is a necessary evil sometimes. Sometimes I like playing the heel to make people look good. Sometimes I do it to inspire a reaction, to be that release they’re looking for. Sometimes I just genuinely want to teach someone some lessons because they’re being a passive-aggressive prick.
Most of the time, I’m a Bad Guy because I’m bored. That day, I just wanna give the kid a break and let him be a kid. Sometimes I have a heart after all.
