Original event actually involved around four people: Service Desk Dude, another Cashier, the cashier next to me, and the Operations Manager. Mimie and I pretty much condensed it to Dude, Manager, and myself. Makes it easier that way. Also adds more to Dude’s character.
The annoying thing that most people ask during work is somebody’s marital status. First of all, most people would volunteer that information during normal conversations. And the people who usually ask this are co-workers who seem to think that the status quo is their monogamous bubble. I can go on for hours posting stuff about this but it’s not so polite.
Anyway, someone asked me about this one that day and I picked from my ready answers list. Apparently that one involved being engaged multiple times. The conversation went somewhere and somehow it annoyed a manager. That being said, that is why I don’t bring up marital status conversations, somewhere, someone is bound to get hurt.
I get that relationship status conversations can be engaging but asking probing questions why certain engagements don’t work out can be quite rude. So how do I return a sarcastic remark? Throw another sarcastic remark in return. It’s an engaging piece being engaged.
So what’s my relationship status? Happily single with the possibility of a relationship. And I’ll leave it at that.
