Another double issue. This time with a recurring “Frozen” theme. One thing I find during Easter is that excessive Frozen and Minion merchandise. Just realized that I did write quite a ton of “Frozen” jokes last year at the same time. Not because I particularly like “Frozen”, it just fit the narrative. That and it’s too easy to drop “Let it go” for just about anything that time.
Let me call on the new character, “Dude” that showed up. He’s the eponymous “that guy” at work that shows up and is your buddy for the duration of your shift but ends up being forgotten after. I think we’ve been a “dude” for everybody at work at one point in time and somebody else has been a “dude” in our lives as well. “Dude” serves a very dear spot in our hearts, be that as it may a placebo of sorts and maybe one day are introduced to our pantheon of social media friends.
For “Unsolicited Dad”, my original story involved an older gentleman commenting about one of his younger co-workers (not really staff as he’s not a boss) dating someone he doesn’t find appealing for her. I mean really, everyone has a right to choose their partners and if it’s wrong for them, it’s on them. Mimie used the “Dude” character to portray him and it showed a different angle to it. In my opinion, it looked less creepy so I went with that idea.
In “Ice Mage”, Dude started out as “Bakery Dude”. I didn’t write a lot about the guy from before, but we had a lot of other stories to tell, however I didn’t start compiling all my adventures until last year, which to be honest, was only a few months before I changed jobs. We’ll see a lot more of Dude in next different comic strips.
